WEDGE-GRIP™ Dead-End
WEDGE-GRIP Dead-Ends are designed to simplify the costly, labor intensive job of cabling trees. The simple housing and wedge assembly terminates EHS and Common Grade strand by simply sliding over it, and with a turn of the cap, the strand is held in place. The WEDGE-GRIP Dead-End eliminates the need to twist strand or alter its integrity in any way. The result is a reliable cable termination that maintains 100% of the published rated breaking strength of the strand, and took only seconds to apply.

These are easy to install following instructions and guidelines. While more costly than dead-end grips, the cost differences isn't as big as first look would suggest. There is no other hardware needed where you need the deadend grips, rots and nuts with that system. The time savings easily pays for the extra expense. Finally as to performance: They are rated for the same strength as the cable, so that is expected. I had installed these on a tree that was destroyed by a tornado (as were all the trees in the neighborhood). The tree sheared off below the cable. When I was looking through pieces on the ground, the Wedge Grips were still in place - even were the cable cut through some branches. It was unfortunate to loose a tree we tried to preserve, but there was nothing that would have saved it from the tornado. The remnants give me confidence that the Wedge Grips are more than adequate to hold cables in place.
